Who can see your viewing activity?
On time assignments
Mastery of the course, not just completion of assignments
Knowing if students actually watch narrated Powerpoints and embedded videos.
can you share the poll results with us? Thank you
There was no option for 25- 50 students.
I have an average of 30
I make the reminders at the beginning of the course and them put them on delay (in announcements) so the students hear from me weekly at the least
That's helpful, Nancy.
what was the name of the tool again, Nancy? thanks!
Make your announcement, then click delay and then pick the date you want it to publish
Thanks for a great talk. I have to run.
Have to learn to chunk that material
Thanks, this will be great!! I want to see a sample of course facilitation plan
That would be great. Thanks!
I am sorry but I have to go to yet another meeting. I would love to see the recording of this to get what I am missing. MANY thanks to Kevin and the CIRT team. You guys are a great resource for our faculty!
Thank you! We will have the recording posted soon, and I will let you all know when it is available and how to access it!
What counts as a "participation" in these analytics? I've seen students with "participations" who have never completed an assignment/discussion.
They may have looked at announcements, updated their profile, read a “view” page, or contributed to a discussion, watched a video, or submitted an assignment.
Thank you, Nancy. Do you know the difference, then, between page view and participation?
Direct correlation between communication and performance IMHO
I add a “notes” column in my grade book and document my communication there.
May be sending an email to professor using canvas is counted as participation. Not sure.
According to https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10299 usually "participation" is something that involves an action on part of the student (beyond just viewing a page). The following user actions will generate analytics course participation:Announcements: posts an announcement (instructor)Announcements: posts a new comment to an announcementAssignments: updates an assignment's settings or description (instructor)Assignments: submits an assignment (student)Collaborations: loads a collaboration to view/edit a documentConferences: joins a web conferenceDiscussions: posts a new comment to a discussionPages: creates a wiki pageQuizzes: submits a quiz (student)Quizzes: starts taking a quiz (student)Calendar: updates a calendar event's settings or description (instructor)
There ya go!
This is useful...thanks, Nancy!!
UNF has a list of what will count for academic activity under “Presentations” - Documentation of Academic Activity. https://www.unf.edu/onestop/registrar/Faculty_and_Staff_Resources.aspx
Thank you, Nancy.
Unfortunately, in Canvas Studio there is no native analytics to see a report other than looking at it individually.
